The role

An Lawyer or Associate with a minimum of three years PQE in general insurance law is sought for Hall & Wilcox's national General Insurance practice in Brisbane. The role will focus on property/construction insurance matters, including high-quantum property recoveries and first-party insurance disputes, requiring file management and litigation experience.

What you'll do

Manage client interaction and strategy
Work with a team of lawyers
Review documents and prepare evidence
Draft correspondence to the Court and third parties
Confer with witnesses and prepare witness statements
Prepare briefs for counsel
Draft Court documents and attend Court
Draft client advices
Draft letters of instruction to experts

What we're looking for

Minimum three years of post-admission experience in general insurance law

Experience in property/construction recoveries

Experience in liability defence acting on behalf of insurers

Experience in the day-to-day management of files

Experience in running matters through court proceedings

Excellent technical skills

Excellent analytical skills

Excellent drafting skills

Keen attention to detail

Excellent verbal communication skills

Excellent written communication skills

Ability to organise and prioritise effectively

Experience supervising, mentoring and delegating to junior lawyers or paralegals will be well regarded· nice to have

A team player, with a ‘can do’ attitude, and a strong interest in defendant insurance law· nice to have
