Associate - Tax

The role

Freshfields is seeking an experienced Tax Associate to join its leading UK Tax practice in London. This role is for a qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales who will advise on complex tax disputes and advisory tax mandates, supporting the firm's corporate clients and working on a broad range of high-profile matters with a cross-border element.

What you'll do

• Advise on corporate tax, including public and private M&A, IPOs, demergers, restructurings, returns of capital, joint ventures and private capital transactions
• Advise on tax finance and restructuring work, including corporate equity and debt-based work and solutions for restructuring and refinancing corporate debt
• Advise on real estate tax matters for developers, institutional investors, lenders and fund managers
• Work with clients to solve difficult contentious tax issues globally
• Represent clients dealing with large scale and multi-faceted tax disputes in the UK and internationally
• Resolve disputes in and out of court
• Work with lawyers in different jurisdictions
• Gain familiarity with international tax aspects
