Associate - Insurance General - Melbourne

The role

This role is for an Associate at HWLE Lawyers in Melbourne, with over 4 years of PQE in the Insurance practice group. The position focuses on acting as defence and coverage counsel for leading Australian underwriters and self-insured corporates, primarily in casualty and professional indemnity claims.

What you'll do

• Advise and act as defence and coverage counsel on behalf of leading Australian underwriters and self-insured corporates
• Provide coverage and risk management advice
• Defend public liability, product liability, professional indemnity and third‑party property damage claims
• Defend statutory claims brought by workers and the Victorian WorkCover Authority
• Participate in advising a broad portfolio of corporate and underwriter clients in respect of public liability, property damage, professional indemnity, product liability and statutory liability claims
• Manage your own file load
• Delegate work and handle claims in tandem with an experienced, supervising partner
• Direct client access
• Be genuinely involved in business development and marketing opportunities
