Lawyer - Public Sector Litigation at Hall & Wilcox

The role

This role is for a Lawyer in Hall & Wilcox's Public Sector Litigation practice in Melbourne. The position requires 3 years of PQE and focuses on public law dispute matters, including land acquisition and compensation.

What you'll do

Be an integral part of the team with responsibility for running matters directly with counsel and the client through to trial
Act on behalf of, and advise, all levels of government on a diverse range of administrative law and commercial dispute matters
Draft court documents, advices, briefs to counsel and correspondence
Provide specialist legal advice on complex legal issues, including statutory interpretation, administrative law, compulsory acquisition and commercial disputes

What we're looking for

Between 1 and 3 years of post-admission experience

A background in public law

Strong academic record

Experience in general commercial litigation or property or construction law with a passion for public law

Excellent legal drafting and analytical skills

Outstanding attention to detail

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to confidently run matters through the dispute resolution process

Ability to handle a busy workload with competing timelines

Experience in compulsory land acquisition· nice to have
