The role
Gadens is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate with 4-8 years of PQE to join their Technology, IP, and Data Privacy & Cyber practice in Sydney. This role is ideal for a candidate with a passion for technology transactions, privacy compliance, or cyber incident response, looking to advance their career in a leading national law firm.

- Distil complex issues into easily understood advice tailored to the client’s understanding
- Manage timeframes and proactively manage priorities within a team
- Manage team members where needed and applicable to your role
- Mentor junior lawyers
What we're looking for
4-8 years of post-admission experience
Experience in technology transactions, procurement, sourcing, general contracting, AI governance and risk management frameworks
Experience in complex privacy compliance advisory, including spam and surveillance regulatory advisory
Experience in cyber preparedness and incident response
Experience across a variety of sectors and industries, including for regulated entities
Experience either in Australia or overseas
Strong technical skills and academics from a leading Australian or international university
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (written and verbal)
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly build rapport with clients, colleagues and key stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to be curious about client industries, sectors and develop knowledge quickly
Demonstrated skillset to manage timeframes and proactively manage priorities within a team
Collaborative working style with a solutions-oriented mindset
An interest in business development, profile-building and mentoring junior lawyers
A strong interest in AI and emerging technologies, and a willingness to develop and enhance expertise in how these can be safely and effectively deployed within legal practice and for clients
