The role
Hall & Wilcox is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate with 8 years of PQE in defendant insurance law to join their statutory insurance team in Brisbane, Australia. The role focuses on advising insured employers and compulsory third-party insurers on workers' compensation and personal injury claims.
What you'll do
- Act for insured employers on behalf of WorkCover Queensland and self-insurers under both the Commonwealth and Queensland schemes
- Act for compulsory third-party insurers in the defence of claims arising in Queensland
- Act for institutions and their insurers in the defence of historical abuse claims
- Act for other personal injury and general liability claims as they arise
What we're looking for
Between 4 and 8 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance
Experience in managing a portfolio workers’ compensation or personal injury claims in line with client KPIs
Experience in the day-to-day management of files, the conduct of conferences and mediations and the conduct of trials
Proactive nature and the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to organise and prioritise effectively
For senior candidates, a willingness to supervise, mentor and delegate to junior members of the team· nice to have
Experience working with a WorkCover Queensland panel law firm· nice to have
