The role
Mills Oakley is seeking a Junior Lawyer with 1-3 years of PQE to join their Brisbane Toxic Torts team. This role focuses on dust diseases litigation for national and international clients, supporting a Partner.
What you'll do
- Manage a varied caseload of dust disease claims under supervision
- Conduct forensic, factual and liability research
- Undertake evidentiary and liability analyses
- Draft pleadings
- Provide strategic advice
- Assess exposure histories and interrogate causation issues using expert evidence
- Prepare briefs to counsel
- Liaise with experts
- Assist with mediations
- Assist with contribution negotiations
- Assist with multi-party litigation strategy
- Assist with Court appearances
What we're looking for
Between 1-3 years’ PQE in insurance litigation, personal injury defence or commercial disputes
Strong analytical skills and confidence working with technical medical evidence
Excellent drafting and attention to detail
Commercial mindset with the ability to balance legal and insurer objectives
Professionalism and maturity when dealing with sensitive claimant circumstances
