The role
Addleshaw Goddard is seeking a Contentious Construction Associate with 1+ PQE to join their Manchester team. This role focuses on handling a variety of contentious construction matters, including formal disputes and project advisory stages, for a range of clients.
What you'll do
- Assist in pitching for work
- Help manage client relationships
- Work on diverse contentious construction and engineering disputes, including contractual claims and professional negligence matters
- Advise clients on construction issues and disputes relating to consultant appointments, warranties, construction and development contracts
- Handle own matters with supervision
- Assist Partners and Managing Associates on more complex matters
- Gain experience in all forms of alternative dispute resolution, including 'without prejudice' meetings and mediations
- Advise clients at all stages of the ADR process
What we're looking for
At least 1+ PQE years' experience within contentious construction matters
Strong skills in dispute avoidance, dispute resolution and project management
Construction litigation experience in TCC, adjudication, high court litigation and arbitration
Experience preparing pleadings, witness and expert statements
Confident stakeholder manager with experience engaging with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent procedural and document management capabilities
Confidence in drafting clear and legally effective documents
Ability to maintain efficient diary and task management across a range of matters
Inquisitive with a desire to understand clients, their drivers and what matters to them
Exposure to bundling and resolving associated issues· nice to have
