Associate - Court of Protection at Irwin Mitchell

The role

This is an Associate role in Irwin Mitchell's Court of Protection team, based in Bristol or Southampton. The role is for a lawyer with 4-8 years of PQE to manage complex caseloads for vulnerable individuals who lack capacity, focusing on their property and financial affairs.

What you'll do

Manage multi-million-pound settlements via Deputyships and Trusts
Chair annual review meetings
Oversee property transactions and care arrangements
Prepare statutory will applications
Run your own caseload of property and affairs matters
Support the Deputy in delivering high-quality, client-centred services
Collaborate with solicitors and paralegals to ensure seamless support
Contribute to business development and client engagement initiatives
Convert warm leads into new matters

What we're looking for

4–8 years PQE

Strong understanding of Court of Protection procedures and related litigation

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage complex caseloads with care and precision

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

Commitment to making a meaningful difference in clients’ lives

Empathetic, resilient, and passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals

Experience working with clients affected by serious injury or illness· nice to have
