The role
The firm is seeking a Solicitor with 0-3 PQE to join their Employment Education team. This role is ideal for someone looking to specialize in employment law within the Higher Education, Further Education, Academy, and Schools sectors, handling both contentious and non-contentious matters.
What you'll do
- Attend and run client meetings
- Take clients’ instructions
- Give clear advice in correspondence and in person
- Draft documents, letters, and contracts tailored to the client’s individual needs
- Attend and deliver internal and external training to clients
- Negotiate with clients and other professionals to secure agreed objectives
- Act on behalf of clients in disputes
- Represent clients in tribunal, if necessary
- Instruct barristers or specialist advocates to appear in tribunal for the client in complex disputes
- Prepare papers for tribunal
- Work in a team
- Refer cases to the head of department
- Produce internal bulletins
- Delegate appropriate work to trainees/paralegals
- Support more senior staff on large complex matters
- Take a proactive approach to business development
What we're looking for
0-3 PQE Solicitor
Previous experience in employment law
Previous experience in a paralegal and/or trainee capacity within employment law if newly qualified
Strong IT skills
Ability to manage files effectively
Willingness and enthusiasm to get involved in business development activities
Desire to specialise in this area of law
Desire to enhance client relationships through day-to-day activity
Excellent communication skills
Highly organised with flexibility during busy periods
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Willingness to work hard with drive and enthusiasm
