Associate - TMT

The role

Pinsent Masons is seeking a TMT Associate with 1-3 years of PQE to join their Data Privacy, Cyber, and Digital Regulation team in Belfast. This role is for a lawyer interested in advising clients on complex cyber security, data privacy, and digital regulation matters within a market-leading practice.

What you'll do

• Advise clients on data protection and privacy compliance, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, international data transfers, privacy notices, direct marketing and e-privacy requirements
• Manage cyber security incidents from initial notification through to resolution, including coordinating forensic investigators, communications advisers, insurers, regulators and international counsel
• Support clients with cyber preparedness initiatives, including cyber simulations, incident response planning, training programmes and risk assessments
• Advise on regulatory investigations and enforcement matters involving regulators such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other UK and international authorities
• Provide strategic advice on emerging areas of digital regulation, including artificial intelligence, online safety and evolving cyber security requirements
• Act on cyber and data privacy litigation, including group claims, representative actions, supplier disputes and recovery actions following cyber incidents
• Draft, review and negotiate data protection provisions within commercial and technology agreements, as well as data sharing, processing and licensing arrangements
• Supervise junior lawyers and take responsibility for significant client relationships and matter management
• Support business development activities, including client presentations, thought leadership, conferences, publications and market engagement
