Legal consultant (4-8 PQE) – funds and asset management

The role

Peerpoint is A&O Shearman's platform for self-directed consultant lawyers seeking challenging assignments, typically six months or longer, within A&O Shearman practice groups or directly with clients. This role is for experienced lawyers with 4-8 PQE in funds and asset management, focusing on areas like fund formation, fund distribution, and general asset management activities.

What you'll do

• Support the Alternatives business of an asset management firm, including the establishment and on-going maintenance of alternatives funds
• Review and negotiate funds documents
• Provide legal support on regulatory or strategic initiatives
• Support with product delivery and management across the product pipeline for the global alternative products team within Asset Management
• Support on portfolio management
• Support on feeder funds to large US hedge fund agreements
• Support with UCITS work
• Support with ESG
• Focus on alternative/unregulated funds
• Negotiate investment management agreements (IMAs) with third party managers
• Support with fund formation and restructuring across UK & Cayman funds
• Undertake occasional CDO work
• Process redemptions and transfers
• Set up new SPVs
• Handle investor requests and investment memorandums
• Focus on the regulated UCITS platform
