Senior Associate - 2nd year (DE) at DLA Piper

The role

DLA Piper is seeking a high-performing Senior Associate with a minimum of 4.5+ years PQE to join their leading disputes practice in Sydney. This role focuses on complex, high-profile commercial litigation and regulatory investigations, offering significant client exposure and career progression opportunities while working with Partner Edward Martin.

What you'll do

Develop direct client relationships
Take responsibility for managing key workstreams
Mentor junior lawyers
Gain opportunities for court appearances
Work closely with counsel
Gain exposure to a wide range of complex, high-value disputes and regulatory matters
Act for clients ranging from household-name global companies to Australian government entities
Work across complex Federal Court and Supreme Court litigation
Work on class actions and shareholder disputes
Work on cross-border disputes
Work on major regulatory investigations and enforcement matters
Handle strategic commercial disputes for financial institutions, multinational and listed corporations
Manage multi-party disputes and high-stakes negotiations, including through alternative dispute resolution processes

What we're looking for

Minimum 4.5+ years PQE gained in private practice

Strong experience in litigation, regulatory matters and/or complex disputes

Exposure to alternative dispute resolution processes

Excellent academic credentials

Strong drafting, analytical and communication skills

Ability to manage client relationships and stakeholders effectively

Commercially minded, solutions-focused and energised by challenging work

Confident operating in complex and high-pressure environments

A proactive and collaborative team player

Strong problem-solver with attention to detail

Motivated to take ownership and drive matters forward
