The role
The Compensation and Benefits practice group is seeking an attorney with at least 6 years of experience to advise on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans, including ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters. The role also involves counseling on benefit plan issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and advising on drafting plan documents, compliance testing, and filings.
What you'll do
- Advise on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans
- Advise on ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters
- Counsel on benefit plan issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and other transactions
- Draft plan documents and disclosures
- Conduct compliance testing
- Handle IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits
- Handle correction matters
What we're looking for
At least 6 years of experience advising on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans
Experience with ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters
Experience counseling on benefit plan issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and other transactions
Experience with drafting plan documents and disclosures
Experience with compliance testing
Experience with IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits
Experience with correction matters
Excellent academic credentials
Superior writing skills
Superior oral communication skills
Superior analytical skills
Experience with ESOP transactions· nice to have
