The role
The Compensation and Benefits practice group seeks an attorney with at least 6 years of experience advising on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans. The role involves ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters, including counseling on benefit plan issues in M&A and drafting plan documents and disclosures.
What you'll do
- Advise on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans
- Advise on ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters
- Counsel on benefit plan issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and other transactions
- Draft plan documents and disclosures
- Conduct compliance testing
- Handle IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits
- Address correction matters
What we're looking for
At least 6 years of experience advising on tax-qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans
Experience with ERISA compliance, plan design, administration, and related regulatory matters
Experience counseling on benefit plan issues arising in mergers and acquisitions and other transactions
Experience with drafting plan documents and disclosures
Experience with compliance testing, IRS and Department of Labor filings and audits, and correction matters
Excellent academic credentials
Superior writing, oral communication and analytical skills
Experience with ESOP transactions· nice to have
Experience with ERISA plan asset rules· nice to have
