Solicitor or Associate – Professional Negligence

The role

DWF is seeking a Solicitor or Associate with 1-5 years of PQE to join their Litigation practice group in Manchester. This role focuses on defending professionals against allegations of professional negligence, managing your own caseload and supporting senior team members.

What you'll do

• Progress the defence of multiple pre-action and litigated claims, including liaising with clients, third parties and opponents
• Carry out disclosure review, preparation of costs budgets and instructions to counsel and experts
• Legal research including as to liability and the value of claims
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and client requirements
• Prepare court documents including Claim Forms, Defences, Allocation Questionnaires, Lists of Documents, Pre-Trial Checklists, bundles for hearings, Application Notices and others
• Carry out reviews of clients' documents, factual and legal analysis and produce first draft reports and advices to clients
• Build good working relationships with colleagues and clients
• Achieve time recording target of 1,500 chargeable hours in the financial year and engage in various business development initiatives
• Manage work-in-progress and debt on allocated files to ensure that invoices are raised and payments are made within agreed terms
• Develop technical and commercial knowledge through training and/or supervised working
• Demonstrate the firm's Winning Behaviours and committing to its values and CSR agenda
