Associate - Court of Protection

The role

Penningtons Manches Cooper is seeking a Litigation Associate with 2-5 years of PQE to join their Court of Protection team in Basingstoke. This role focuses on the day-to-day general management of clients' affairs, working on Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts, and supporting litigation lawyers.

What you'll do

• Manage day-to-day general management of the clients’ affairs
• Act as a primary point of contact for the client
• Work on both Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts
• Ensure compliance with the OPG Deputyship Standards in all general management tasks
• Draft routine and non-routine applications to the Court of Protection with accompanying documentation including Witness Statements
• Support with the preparation of Expert Witness Statements
• Assist with the preparation of OPG Reports
• Assist senior members of the team with discrete tasks as required
• Run own caseload with training and supervision
• Take a role in the implementation of policies and processes relating to the team
• Mentor and train junior staff and delegate tasks as appropriate
• Liaise with Case Managers, clients, and their family
• Liaise and consult with senior members of the as appropriate on team policies and general management of client matters
