The role

Mills Oakley is seeking a Senior Associate with 5-8 years of PQE in Intellectual Property law to join their Melbourne team. This role involves providing strategic legal counsel on a diverse range of IP matters for local and international businesses, working with partners Lisa Egan and Joanna Lawrence.

What you'll do

Provide strategic legal counsel to clients, helping them safeguard and enforce their IP assets and navigate the complex landscape of IP law
Work on a range of IP matters including providing brand strategy advice
Manage trade mark portfolios
Draft agreements
Advise on copyright, design and confidential information protection and enforcement
Provide general IP advice and dispute resolution

What we're looking for

Between 5-8 years’ PQE in IP law

Relevant in-house experience may also be considered

Strong expertise and experience in trade mark law and practice, including advising on registrability and availability of trade marks, prosecution and managing large portfolios

Experience in IP disputes (including oppositions and removal actions), enforcement and litigation matters

Excellent written communication and drafting skills with strong attention to detail

Strong client and matter management skills

A commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving

The ability to take ownership of matters while working collaboratively within a team

Experience mentoring and supervising junior staff
