The role

This is a Privacy Lawyer role for a senior legal consultant with 8+ years of PQE, based in Brisbane. The role is with Reach, the flexible legal resourcing platform of Ashurst Perkins Coie, and focuses on technology and privacy law.

What you'll do

Advise on privacy law and regulatory compliance
Advise on telecommunications-specific privacy obligations
Advise on obligations arising under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act
Support organisations through regulatory reform and compliance uplift programs
Identify, assess and manage legal, regulatory and reputational risks associated with privacy and telecommunications regulation
Advise on governance, compliance and regulatory matters within a large corporate or in-house legal environment
Support regulatory projects involving privacy reform, cyber security, data governance, consumer protection or telecommunications compliance

What we're looking for

8+ years of experience

Demonstrated experience advising on privacy law and regulatory compliance

Strong knowledge of the Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles and emerging privacy regulatory developments

Experience providing legal advice on telecommunications-specific privacy obligations

Experience advising on obligations arising under the Telecommunications (Interception and Access) Act

Proven ability to support organisations through regulatory reform and compliance uplift programs

Strong capability in identifying, assessing and managing legal, regulatory and reputational risks associated with privacy and telecommunications regulation

Experience advising on governance, compliance and regulatory matters within a large corporate or in-house legal environment

Experience supporting regulatory projects involving privacy reform, cyber security, data governance, consumer protection or telecommunications compliance

Current Australian practising certificate

Right to live and work in Australia

Have or be prepared to get security clearance

Experience in telecommunications· nice to have

Familiarity with scam prevention frameworks, customer protection obligations and broader telecommunications regulatory requirements· nice to have

Experience advising on sensitive customer matters, including hardship, vulnerability, domestic violence or customer protection issues· nice to have
