The role
Thomsons is seeking a Lawyer/Associate with 2-5 years of experience to join its Corporate team in Brisbane. The role will focus on M&A transactions and corporate advisory work, working closely with experienced partners.
What you'll do
- Manage M&A transactions with a high level of autonomy
- Delegate to and assist with the development of junior lawyers in the team
- Engage with other specialist practice areas within the firm
- Conduct legal due diligence including drafting due diligence reports
- Review and draft contracts
- Provide solutions to clients' commercial needs and objectives
- Provide sound, pragmatic and innovative legal advice to the firm's corporate clients
What we're looking for
2-5 years of experience
Solid experience and exposure to M&A transactions
Strong background in Corporate Advisory / Mergers & Acquisitions with a mid-market focus
Experience gained in mid to top-tier firms
Ability and desire to proactively manage M&A transactions with a high level of autonomy
Ability to work collaboratively in a team
Solid experience with legal due diligence including drafting due diligence reports
Experience with reviewing and drafting contracts
Willingness to have a hands-on approach as a client-focused practitioner
Great relationship-building and communication skills
Willingness and ability to understand clients' commercial needs and objectives and provide solutions
Ability to provide sound, pragmatic and innovative legal advice
Good contract drafting skills
Good legal analysis and problem solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Analytical skills
