The role
Gilbert + Tobin is seeking First Nations law students for its 2026 Legal Cadetship program, specifically for roles supporting its M&A practice in Sydney and Melbourne. This program offers 1+ years of experience in a leading law firm environment.
What you'll do
- Experience different areas of our business
- Work one to two days per week during semester, alongside full-time or part-time study
- Potentially work additional days during semester breaks
- Build new skills, knowledge and experience
- Gain a greater understanding of our clients and their industries
- Complete practical and challenging work
- Receive formal mentoring
What we're looking for
Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
Currently enrolled in an LLB or JD
Studying at a Sydney or Melbourne located university or able to attend work each week at our Sydney or Melbourne office
Going into the 2nd year of your undergraduate degree or at any stage of your JD
Completion of at least one year of university study at the time of commencing
Self-starter
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
