The role
This role is for an experienced Employment Lawyer with 5+ years of PQE, sought by Ashurst Perkins Coie clients in Melbourne through the Reach Legal Consultants platform. The position focuses on providing specialist employment law advice across a broad range of issues.
What we're looking for
Minimum of 5 years' experience
Specialist expertise in employment law
Familiarity with safety law including disciplinary issues, termination of employment, complex staff complaints, industrial disputes, enterprise bargaining and grievance handling
Prior experience and exposure dealing with large scale complex remediation projects and/or payroll remediation and compliance programs
Experienced in advising on compliance with Work Health Safety laws and anti-discrimination matters
Experienced dealing with employment regulators including the Fair Work Ombudsman and IR Commission
The ability to monitor legislative changes and industry best practices, recommending updates to policies and procedures
Experience managing complex employment law matters in large organisations
The ability to influence, negotiate and simplify complex legal matters
Confident liaising with multiple internal stakeholders and teams
The ability to manage external facing issues
The ability to hit the ground running, work autonomously and prioritise
Strong legal judgement and the ability to identify key risks quickly
Confidence dealing with senior internal stakeholders and external legal advisers
Commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach to problem-solving
Proactive, responsive and solutions-focused working style
A current Australian practising certificate
Right to live and work in Australia
Experience in employee relations· nice to have
