Costs Lawyer at Eversheds Sutherland

The role

Eversheds Sutherland is seeking a Costs Lawyer with 4+ years of experience to join their Litigation practice in Cardiff or Manchester. This role supports the partner-led Litigation Costs and Funding team, focusing on the recovery and negotiation of costs in various litigated matters.

What you'll do

Negotiate the recovery and reduction of costs on litigated matters
Liaise with the relevant fee earner or partner, and the end client
Prepare and serve bills of costs
Negotiate and settle costs claims
Prepare Precedent H court budgets
Prepare Points of Dispute
Prepare Replies
Prepare hearing bundles
Prepare Instructions and Briefs to Counsel
Assist the head of the team with business development
Spend time with clients, partners and fee earners
Promote the team
Seek to generate and develop new areas of work
Assist with the wider project management of large litigation disputes and projects

What we're looking for

Qualified costs lawyer or qualified through experience

At least 4 years of litigation experience

Genuine interest in costs disputes and budgeting

Ability to prepare bills of costs, points of dispute, replies and budgets

Ability to manage own case load

Excellent communication skills

Ability to deliver an outstanding client experience

Confident and credible in dealing with internal and external stakeholders

Ability to build lasting and strong relationships

Adherence to compliance with best practice and firmwide policies
