The role

This role is for a Senior Associate within TLT's Public Inquiries, Inquests & Public Law (PIIPL) team in London. The position is for an experienced lawyer with at least 3 years of PQE in litigation, focusing on complex public law matters.

What you'll do

  • Act as a supporting Solicitor to statutory and non-statutory inquiries
  • Undertake internal investigations and independent reviews
  • Provide legal advice to the Inquiry Team and contribute to senior relationship management with recognised legal representatives, core participants, witnesses and document providers
  • Handle or lead complex, multi-disciplinary, professional, multi-strand legal or investigative environments
  • Handle or lead complex, large-scale projects, including involvement in delivery of large-scale disclosure/e-disclosure/document production/information management exercises
  • Deal with Public law challenges, advising on merits of defending judicial review claims and grounds for issuing JR challenges
  • Advise on litigation related to national security matters
  • Plan, define and implement strategies to support delivery against client need
  • Lead and project manage document-heavy review processes to identify key relevant materials
  • Establish defined programmes of work and monitor delivery
  • Give clear and detailed instructions to witnesses to ensure delivery of high-quality evidence
  • Support witnesses in advance of giving oral evidence
  • Supervise the work delegated to other team members, adopting a supportive and collegiate approach to the development of others
  • Work flexibly across workstreams and delegate tasks to other team members, driving efficiency and maximising available resource

What we're looking for

Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years PQE within litigation
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Strong litigation skills
Strong project management skills
Experience of managing large scale disclosure exercises and/or working on large scale projects in commercial litigation
Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills
Self-motivated with the ability to manage workloads and deadlines
Commercially aware with some exposure to business development
Ability to maintain and nurture strong client relationships
Develop a deep understanding of your client’s business needs, and act in the best interest of the firm and the client
Contribute to our collaborative culture, with an ambition to assist in the development of junior team members
