The role
Eversheds Sutherland is seeking an Associate/Senior Associate with 2-6 years of PQE to join their Technology practice group, focusing on Commercial Contracts. This role is based in Leeds, Manchester, or Birmingham and involves advising a variety of public and private sector clients on a broad spectrum of contractual matters.
What you'll do
- Advise on a wide range of matters from high value, long term strategic arrangements to day-to-day business-as-usual matters and standard form contracts
- Work with a wide range of private and public sector businesses across sectors such as transport, utilities and industrial engineering
- Provide commercial support for transactions undertaken by corporate and real estate teams
- Develop close working relationships with colleagues in different teams and offices nationally and internationally
- Learn from different partners
- Participate in and contribute to structured business development activity
- Assist to write client briefings/articles
What we're looking for
2-6 years PQE in contract law in private practice
Detailed knowledge of different types of contract
Strong technical and drafting skills
Understanding of key legal, commercial, and operational issues impacting clients and their contracts
Understanding of specialist support needed for a contract (e.g. TUPE, data protection, competition law)
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and with clients from various sectors and cultures
Ability to build strong relationships and enjoy business development activities
Ability to deal with competing client demands from multiple transactions
Ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines
Ability to deliver excellent client service
Drive, enthusiasm, and ability to work well as part of a team
Strong research skills and familiarity with precedents and external legal resources
Ability to build great relationships with colleagues
Good networking skills and ability to build and develop client relationships
Commercially aware and willing to participate in group training
Ability to coach, supervise, and mentor junior members of the team (Senior Associate level)
Proactive participation in Business Development and assisting Partners with client development opportunities and networking (Senior Associate level)
