The role
Reed Smith is seeking a senior-level Emerging Technologies and Data Privacy Associate for its Chicago office. This role will focus on advising clients on data privacy, technology transactions, and advertising and marketing matters within the Technology practice.
What we're looking for
6+ years of experience in emerging technologies, data privacy, and/or advertising and marketing
Specific experience in privacy and product compliance and counseling
Specific experience in tech transactions
Specific experience in data transactions
Specific experience in contract drafting and negotiation
Specific experience in AdTech, digital media and advertising transactions
Specific experience in data breach counseling and transactions
Active member of the Illinois state bar
Familiarity with digital advertising technology
Familiarity with AI-related legal and regulatory matters
Experience developing internal data protection programs· nice to have
Experience conducting privacy assessments· nice to have
Experience building out data maps· nice to have
Experience performing data protection impact assessments· nice to have
Experience drafting privacy policies· nice to have
Experience negotiating data processing agreements· nice to have
Experience managing data incident response· nice to have
Experience advising on cutting-edge or high-risk privacy issues, like AI, AdTech, health data, biometric data, and/or kids and teen data· nice to have
