The role

We are seeking a Solicitor with 2-3 years of PQE to join our Glasgow Insurance Team. This role is for lawyers experienced in defending public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, with a focus on disease, EL/PL, motor, and fraud matters. The position involves managing your own caseload and supporting partners with their cases.

What you'll do

Manage the day to day of your cases
Liaise with clients, opponents, court and witnesses
Undertake your own liability investigations
Provide a comprehensive range of legal advice and representation to the team’s clients
Assist the Partners with their cases
Assist the Partners with client development
Assist the Partners with client training
Assist the Partners with networking
Complete MI procedures as and when required
Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
Ensure relevant deadlines, SLAs, quality measures and KPI’s are adhered to
Comply with relevant policies and procedures
Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values

What we're looking for

Solicitor 2-3 years PQE

Previous PI defender experience

Previous experience at managing the defence of EL/PL casualty claims is essential

Experience of handling own caseload

Good influencing skills

Good communication skills

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal and team working skills

Ability to work to strict deadlines and targets

Ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative

Flexible approach to work

Previous experience at managing the defence of motor/fraud/disease claims is desirable· nice to have

Excellent knowledge of Court of Session and Sheriff Court procedure preferable· nice to have

Willingness to travel· nice to have
