Solicitor - Police Employment

The role

Weightmans is seeking an experienced Solicitor with 4+ years of PQE to join their national Employment, Pensions and Immigration team. This role focuses on police employment law, offering a mix of litigation and advisory work for police force clients in Birmingham, Leeds, or Manchester.

What you'll do

• Provide employment law advice to Police force clients
• Manage a mixed caseload of employment work
• Handle unfair dismissal, disciplinary, grievances, whistleblowing, discrimination, detriment claims and equal pay matters
• Focus on running Employment Tribunal cases, including attendance (and advocacy if applicable) at preliminary or other interim hearings
• Draft and prepare documents, tribunal responses, bundles, witness statements and reports
• Assist with the supervision and management of members of the team with their caseloads
• Draft articles and legal updates
• Assist with business development initiatives including training and networking
• Work in accordance with client and internal SLAs
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
