Senior Solicitor - Insurance

The role

The firm is seeking a Principal Associate to join their Specialty team in London, focusing on complex insurance coverage, defence, and reinsurance matters. This role is for an experienced solicitor with at least 6 years of PQE to support the growth of the team and work on high-value disputes.

What you'll do

• Proactively manage a varied caseload with limited supervision, including complex coverage, defence and reinsurance matters
• Advise insurers and reinsurers in relation to policy coverage, indemnity and liability issues
• Support clients in relation to reinsurance disputes, recoveries and strategic advisory work
• Monitor and defend underlying claims on behalf of reinsurers, and insurers including working with local counsel in other jurisdictions
• Prepare detailed and technical reports, correspondence, pleadings and other legal documents
• Advise clients on policy interpretation and wording issues
• Liaise with insurer and reinsurer clients, brokers, insureds, experts, witnesses, counsel and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with client service level agreements, relevant policies and procedures
• Support and contribute to business development initiatives, including networking, training and thought leadership
• Assist with client pitches, profile raising and development of key client relationships
• Produce management information and reporting as required
• Delegate to, supervise and develop junior team members
• Assist Partners and senior lawyers with strategic and high-value matters as required
• Achieve financial, utilisation and chargeable hour targets
• Ensure case management records are maintained accurately and consistently
• Work in accordance with Weightmans’ values and wider business objectives
