Senior Associate - Projects, Development and Construction at Penningtons Manches Cooper

The role

A non-contentious Senior Associate role in the Projects, Development & Construction Team for a lawyer with at least 6+ years of PQE. The role will focus on non-contentious construction law, including drafting and negotiating various construction contracts and advising on development arrangements.

What you'll do

Draft and negotiate all types of construction, development and project documentation
Help clients to prepare agreements that best reflect their interests and the appropriate sharing of risk
Advise on risks in live schemes
Provide payment advice
Advise on delays
Advise on fire stopping issues
Advise on preventing the failure of construction projects
Analyse a contract to inform a client of its rights and responsibilities
Suggest next steps for clients
Advise on challenging extensions of time requests
Issue termination notices
Advise on the consequences of termination
Advise on insolvency issues

What we're looking for

At least 6+ years qualified

Previous experience of working within a construction team

Managing Associates and a range of matters

Extensive experience of non-contentious construction law

Experience with all standard form construction contracts

Experience with bespoke arrangements

Solid knowledge of JCT, NEC and FIDIC forms

Knowledge of standard amendments to contracts

Knowledge of market commercial expectations and compromise positions

Willingness to take on more bespoke, complex agreements

Willingness to take on large scale due diligence exercises

Willingness to take on typical development arrangements

Development experience· nice to have

Housing and accommodation experience· nice to have
