Dispute Resolution – Solicitor (2-4 PQE) – Canberra at Mallesons

The role

This is an opportunity for a Solicitor with 2-4 PQE to join the Dispute Resolution team in Canberra, working under the supervision of Partner Emma Lawrence. The role focuses on a mix of commercial litigation, public law, regulatory matters, and government litigation, serving a diverse client base including Commonwealth Government departments.

What you'll do

Proactively drive forward matters with an appropriate level of autonomy
Support and actively develop our relationships with clients
Gain exposure to national and international matters
Help our clients deliver on their strategic priorities using commercial acumen
Investigate and resolve disputes
Provide advice on risk and the avoidance of disputes

What we're looking for

2-4 PQE

First rate written and oral communication skills

Strong drafting experience

Top notch legal analysis

Ability to get across complex areas of law quickly

Strong interest in the industry sectors in which we operate

Self-awareness, positivity and ability to work well with others

Strong commitment to client service

Well-developed relationship management ability

Willingness to embrace new technologies, including AI-enabled legal tools

Dispute experience gained in a similar environment· nice to have

Understanding of the operational processes of the Federal Courts and Tribunals· nice to have
