Senior Associate, Commercial Disputes & Litigation at Hall & Wilcox

The role

Hall & Wilcox is seeking a Senior Associate for their Dispute Resolution section in Melbourne. This role is for an experienced litigator with 6+ years of PQE, focusing on complex commercial disputes and litigation.

What you'll do

Advise clients and manage matters involving complex commercial disputes, litigation and regulatory investigations across a range of industries
Work with Partners in developing litigation and dispute resolution strategies that align with clients' commercial objectives and risk appetite
Draft and settle pleadings, affidavits, witness statements, advices, submissions, correspondence and briefs to counsel
Appear and instruct in court, attend mediations and other dispute resolution forums
Work closely with counsel, experts and clients throughout the lifecycle of a matter
Supervise, mentor and develop junior lawyers within the team
Contribute to client relationships, business development initiatives and thought leadership activities

What we're looking for

6+ years' post-admission experience

Demonstrated experience operating at Senior Associate level within a commercial litigation practice in Australia

Proven experience managing complex commercial disputes with a high level of autonomy

Experience working directly with sophisticated corporate, financial services or institutional clients

Strong technical legal skills, commercial judgement and strategic thinking abilities

Excellent drafting, advocacy and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment

Proven capability to supervise and mentor junior lawyers and contribute positively to team development

A collaborative approach

Strong stakeholder management skills

A commitment to exceptional client service

Enthusiasm for innovation and leveraging technology to deliver smarter legal solutions

Experience with investigations and regulatory disputes, or a genuine interest in developing expertise in these areas· nice to have
