Employment Paralegal at Shoosmiths

The role

Shoosmiths is seeking an Employment Paralegal for their Edinburgh office to support a significant equal pay project. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in complex litigation and work alongside national employment team colleagues and leading barristers.

What you'll do

Immerse yourself in the detail of claimants' employment histories
Attend witness meetings
Assist with the preparation of defence documentation
Analyse the wider litigation landscape
Observe strategic discussions shaping the defence of large-scale equal pay claims

What we're looking for

Prior experience working as a paralegal in an employment environment

Commercially minded

Confident with experience liaising with and communicating with external clients on a regular basis

Excellent attention to detail taken with all correspondence and documentation

Flexible according to client needs

Ability to adapt to change, new practices and remain calm under pressure

Able to integrate within a team as well as working on your own initiative

Good organisational skills

Hybrid working — three days per week in the office, at least two of which will be spent in Edinburgh, with the flexibility to work from home on the remaining two days
