The role
This is a Consulting Lawyer position within A&O Shearman's Peerpoint platform in Hong Kong, focusing on Financial Services Regulatory matters. The role is for experienced lawyers with at least 4 years of post-qualification experience.
What you'll do
- Advising businesses across the full spectrum of financial services, including investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, private banks, insurers, exchanges and trading platforms
- Experienced with a wide range of regulatory and compliance matters, with a particular focus on the cross border offer and marketing of investment products and services, licensing of businesses and products, securities trading, asset custody, conduct of business requirements and data privacy
- Supporting financial institutions involved in transactions involving regulated businesses, for example, advising on required consents and notifications triggered through acquisition, disposal and restructuring
What we're looking for
A right to work and reside in Hong Kong
Qualified to practice in at least one of the following jurisdictions: England & Wales, United States, Hong Kong, Singapore or Australia
A minimum of four years' post-qualification experience at a top tier law firm in this field
Strong technical knowledge and experience
Self-starter with a commitment to building a career as a consultant and a drive to achieve at a high level whilst working as a consultant
Adept at leading or working within complex multi-functional, multi-national project environments
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels, building strong relationships internally and externally
Strong commercial/business acumen
Resilient, adaptable, autonomous and highly organised
Some Asian experience· nice to have
In-house legal experience at leading financial services institutions/corporates preferred (directly or as a secondee)· nice to have
