The role

This is a 6-month full-time hybrid role for an experienced Commercial Lawyer with 5+ years of PQE, focusing on general commercial law. The role is based in Sydney and is part of the Reach Legal Consultant program within Ashurst Perkins Coie, supporting litigation and regulatory matters.

What you'll do

Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts
Advise on supplier agreements, procurement arrangements and vendor relationships
Advise on customer contracts and support commercial negotiations
Identify legal, commercial and operational risks arising from contractual arrangements
Provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders
Manage a varied portfolio of BAU legal matters across multiple business functions
Support senior executives and provide advice on strategic and operational issues

What we're looking for

Minimum of 5 years' experience

Strong general commercial law experience gained in-house or within a leading law firm

Extensive experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts

Proven experience advising on supplier agreements, procurement arrangements and vendor relationships

Experience advising on customer contracts and supporting commercial negotiations

Strong understanding of contract law principles and their practical application in a business environment

Ability to identify legal, commercial and operational risks arising from contractual arrangements

Experience providing pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice to business stakeholders

Demonstrated capability to manage a varied portfolio of BAU legal matters across multiple business functions

Experience supporting senior executives and providing advice on strategic and operational issues

Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities and deadlines

Experience building strong relationships with internal stakeholders across different business areas

Demonstrated capability as a true generalist lawyer with the flexibility to advise on a wide variety of legal issues

Commercially minded with strong business acumen

Pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to legal issues

Excellent negotiation and influencing skills

Ability to communicate complex legal concepts in a clear and practical manner

Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Confident working directly with senior executives and leadership teams

Adaptable and versatile with a willingness to handle a broad range of legal matters

Current Australian practising certificate
