Lateral Associate - Litigation: Employment

The role

Sullivan & Cromwell seeks a Lateral Associate with 4+ years of experience to join their Litigation Group, focusing on the Employment Practice. This role is for experienced lawyers and is based in New York, Los Angeles, or Washington D.C., advising clients on a wide range of employment law matters.

What you'll do

• Draft employment/separation agreements
• Advise on terminations
• Advise on restrictive covenants
• Conduct workplace investigations
• Advise on reductions in force
• Draft employer handbooks
• Conduct employment diligence for transactions
• Advise on compliance with applicable employment laws
• Advise clients on routine and complex discrimination issues
• Defend employers in discrimination litigation in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels
• Advise on difficult senior executive transition and retention issues
• Advise on separation negotiations and litigation
• Handle restrictive covenant cases involving non-compete, non-solicit and trade secret claims
• Handle cases involving forfeiture of stock awards
• Conduct expedited and thorough internal investigations regarding allegations of sexual harassment, discrimination, retaliation, financial misconduct, conflicts of interest, and other violations of corporate policy
• Advise on workforce restructuring
• Advise on compliance with complex U.S. and non-U.S. statutes
• Advise on independent contractor and Fair Labor Standards Act classification and related wage and hour issues
• Investigate employee complaints
• Resolve particular employee situations
• Create employment agreements and severance arrangements
• Address international employment issues
• Handle additional traditional labor law matters
