The role
Gilbert + Tobin is seeking a Lawyer with 4+ years of experience in Competition, Consumer and Market Regulation to join their Sydney team. This role focuses on advising clients on complex antitrust, regulatory, and market regulation matters.
What you'll do
- Be involved in mergers and acquisitions, including ACCC clearances
- Advise on competition law issues arising from joint ventures and strategic alliances
- Represent clients in ACCC investigations, enforcement proceedings and litigation, including representing cartel leniency applicants in Australia and Asia Pacific and parties in civil damages proceedings
- Advise on criminal investigations under the CCA, now that criminal sanctions apply for cartel conduct
- Advise on access regimes, economic regulation and pricing decisions including representing regulators and regulated businesses
- Advise on regulatory design and implementation for government entities in the Asia Pacific region, including telecommunications, financial services, energy and water
- Advise on legislative reform, including preparing submissions to government and regulatory reviews such as the Harper Review
- Advise on misleading and deceptive conduct, consumer protection and unconscionability issues
What we're looking for
4 - 7+ years post-admission experience in Competition Law and regulatory matters
Strong drafting and advice writing skills
Superior technical knowledge and a genuine interest in competition and consumer law
The ability to work effectively with clients
The ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
A desire to develop and progress quickly
