Lawyer - Tax at Thomsons

The role

Thomsons is seeking a Lawyer - Tax with 1-4 years of experience to join their Melbourne office. This role focuses on front-end corporate transactional tax and advisory work within the firm's busy tax practice.

What you'll do

Advise on all areas of corporate tax including income tax, GST and stamp duty
Advise on front-end corporate M&A, real estate and banking and financing transactions
Assist with tax related drafting in transaction documents (such as Share / Asset Sale Agreements and Contracts of Sale etc)
Assist in servicing and growing the front-end tax practice in Melbourne
Work with the various Thomsons corporate, real estate and banking and finance teams across Australia on many varied corporate tax related issues
Assist with front-end tax queries across a wide variety of areas with a particular focus on income tax (as well as GST and stamp duty)
Prepare tax advice including front-end tax memorandums
Draft various advice and documents

1-4 years PAE

High level of academic excellence

Top quality technical and analytical skills

Effective communication skills

Ability to work well as a team player

Demonstrated income tax experience and related preparation of tax advice will be particularly helpful

Experience in preparing tax drafting for corporate transaction documents will be highly regarded
