Associate - Commercial Dispute Resolution at Penningtons Manches Cooper

The role

Penningtons Manches Cooper is seeking an Associate for its Commercial Dispute Resolution team in Birmingham with 3+ years of experience. This role is for an ambitious individual to manage complex commercial disputes and build their own practice within a supportive environment.

What you'll do

Advise clients on a wide range of commercial disputes including contractual disputes shareholder and partnership disputes professional negligence claims and business torts
Manage matters from inception to resolution including pre-action advice pleadings disclosure interim applications trial preparation and settlement
Act on Court litigation as well as alternative dispute resolution
Draft legal documents
Instruct and liaise with counsel and other external advisers
Develop and maintain strong client relationships acting as a key point of contact on matters
Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and trainees where appropriate
Support business development initiatives

What we're looking for

Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with at least 3 years post qualification experience

Demonstrate involvement in business development including building their own network and supporting existing client relationships

Solid technical litigation experience with the ability to manage matters with an appropriate degree of autonomy

Excellent drafting analytical and communication skills

Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic solutions-focused approach

Confidence in dealing directly with clients and building trusted relationships whilst being adaptable to the individual client's needs

Ability to manage multiple matters effectively and meet deadlines

Interest in business development and practice growth· nice to have
