Project Development & Construction Associate/Senior Associate 4-8 PQE at A&O Shearman

The role

A&O Shearman is seeking a Project Development & Construction Associate/Senior Associate with 4-8 years of PQE to join their Energy, Infrastructure practice in Dubai. This role will focus on advising clients on construction and project development matters within the energy and infrastructure sectors.

What you'll do

Provide strategic guidance to clients and lead on transactions
Draft, review, amend and negotiate project contracts
Manage client expectations, deadlines and project delivery appropriately
Collaborate across teams, departments and jurisdictions
Manage matters (or workstreams) and maximise financial contribution
Lead and supervise junior team members
Recognise and act upon opportunities for business development
Assist with and implement group and firm-wide business development strategies
Proactively engage with clients both on and off deal with a view towards building and maintaining strong client relationships
Develop and share legal and sector knowledge (internally and externally)
Assist with billing activities and timely invoicing

What we're looking for

Qualified lawyer in the 4 - 8 PQE range

Currently within a leading international law firm

Resilient self-starter with intellectual curiosity and versatility

Evidence of keen interest in project development allied to strong technical knowledge across multiple disciplines

Highly motivated team player with excellent organisational skills

Clear and concise verbal and written communicator with outstanding interpersonal skills and a good eye for detail

Entrepreneurial drive

Strong commercial/business acumen

Clear understanding of law firm economics and an understanding of the firm's strategic priorities

A person of sound judgement and core values, able to establish a high level of credibility

Strong experience of EPC/construction contracts, revenue contracts, concessions, and other commercial contracts

Experience gained through advising on actual greenfield project development matters

Experience advising lenders, offtakers, governments and contractors· nice to have
