The role
A&O Shearman is seeking a Legal Consultant (interim) with 5-7 years of PQE in construction and infrastructure law for their Abu Dhabi office. This role is for experienced lawyers looking to undertake assignments with top-tier clients and benefit from the support of a leading global firm.
What you'll do
- Draft and negotiate numerous construction related contracts (both in FIDIC and bespoke forms) for a wide range of projects (including power, infrastructure, buildings and leisure facilities)
- Draft and negotiate several O&M and FM contracts
- Provide legal services and advise on all areas of construction law including associated areas and matters related to contractors, subcontractors and design professionals
What we're looking for
Minimum of four years' post-qualification experience at a law firm ranked as top tier for construction, projects and infrastructure work
Experience in non-contentious construction and infrastructure law
Experience in drafting and negotiating numerous construction related contracts (both in FIDIC and bespoke forms) for a wide range of projects
Experience in drafting and negotiating several O&M and FM contracts
Experience providing legal services and advising on all areas of construction law
Practising certificate (or equivalent) which entitles them to practise as a lawyer in the region
Recent in-house legal experience within an energy, transport or infrastructure company· nice to have
Experience in the Middle East· nice to have
Fluency in Arabic· nice to have
Desire to take ownership of their career and be responsible for their own professional development and network· nice to have
Researched the personal and financial factors that you need to consider when commencing a career as a legal consultant and be comfortable with the ways in which it differs from permanent employment· nice to have
Consultant mindset, including a highly professional, flexible and adaptable outlook and approach· nice to have
