The role

A&O Shearman is seeking an interim Legal Consultant (7+ PQE) with expertise in Regulatory, Compliance, and Ethics to join their team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This role is for experienced lawyers looking for challenging assignments within a leading global firm.

What you'll do

Build and operationalise a best-in-class compliance programme
Draft and implement codes of conduct and ethics policies
Conduct enterprise and business-unit risk assessments
Design third-party and M&A due diligence protocols
Manage whistleblowing frameworks and internal investigations
Deliver training
Oversee compliance monitoring and remediation
Report to senior leadership and boards

What we're looking for

7+ years of post-qualification experience in Compliance, Regulatory and Ethics

Experience at a law firm ranked as top tier within their specialism

Practising certificate (or equivalent) which entitles them to practise as a lawyer in the region

Consultant mindset, including a highly professional, flexible and adaptable outlook and approach

Recent in-house experience supporting Compliance/Regulatory/Ethics activities· nice to have

Experience in the Middle East· nice to have

Fluency in Arabic· nice to have

Demonstrable expertise in AML and sanctions frameworks· nice to have

Experience advising on prudential and conduct requirements· nice to have

Experience with policy development, remediation programs, and regulatory change management· nice to have

Experience building and operationalising compliance programmes· nice to have

Experience drafting and implementing codes of conduct and ethics policies· nice to have

Experience conducting enterprise and business-unit risk assessments· nice to have

Experience designing third-party and M&A due diligence protocols· nice to have

Experience managing whistleblowing frameworks and internal investigations· nice to have

Experience overseeing compliance monitoring and remediation· nice to have

Familiarity with UAE labour and corporate frameworks and international standards· nice to have
