Local Government Solicitor at Weightmans

The role

Weightmans is seeking a Local Government Solicitor with 2+ years of PQE to join their Public Sector practice in Birmingham or Leicester. This role focuses on defending public liability and employers' liability claims.

What you'll do

Handle or assist on predominantly PI including EL, PL and Highways and also potentially property damage, social care and data protection claims
Liaise with clients, opponents, court, witnesses and undertake own liability investigations
Assist senior fee earners with various tasks including general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements, reports to clients and preparation for court hearings
Attend client meetings and court hearings
Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision
Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
Support the team’s business development activities
