Local Government Solicitor

The role

This role is for a Solicitor to join the Local Government Team in Birmingham or Leicester. The position focuses on handling a caseload of predominantly fast-track EL/PL claims, including investigation, client liaison, and court appearances, and is suitable for individuals with demonstrable interest and experience in casualty defence litigation.

What you'll do

• Handle or assist on predominantly PI including EL, PL and Highways and also potentially property damage, social care and data protection claims
• Liaise with clients, opponents, court, witnesses
• Undertake own liability investigations
• Assist senior fee earners with various tasks including general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements, reports to clients and preparation for court hearings
• Attend client meetings and court hearings
• Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision
• Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
• Support the team’s business development activities
