Casualty Commercial Lawyer at Weightmans

The role

Weightmans is seeking a Casualty Commercial Lawyer with 1-3 years of PQE to join their Insurance practice in Leicester, Liverpool, or Manchester. This role involves managing your own caseload of employers' liability and public liability claims, while also supporting senior fee earners.

What you'll do

Run a case load of litigated claims, dealing with both liability and quantum
Manage disclosure documents
Assist senior fee earners with various tasks including general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements, reports to clients and preparation for court hearings
Attend client meetings and court hearings
Assist with the instruction of Counsel and experts
Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision
Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
Support the team’s business development activities

What we're looking for

1-3 years PQE

Current experience of handling EL/PL casualty claims is essential

Experience of handling own casualty caseload

Good drafting skills

Good influencing skills

Good communication skills

Good interpersonal and team working skills

Good IT skills

Good written and communication skills

Good time management and organisation skills

Good attention to detail and concentration

Ability to multi-task and prioritise

Ability to work to strict deadlines

Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

Knowledge of CPR procedure with proven technical ability
