The role

A Solicitor with 1-3 years of PQE is sought to join the Casualty team at Weightmans. This role focuses on defending public liability (PL) and employers' liability (EL) claims, requiring the ability to manage an independent caseload and support senior colleagues with various tasks.

What you'll do

Run a caseload of litigated claims, dealing with both liability and quantum
Manage disclosure documents
Assist senior fee earners with various tasks including general case management, legal research, drafting of witness statements, reports to clients and preparation for court hearings
Attend client meetings and court hearings
Assist with the instruction of Counsel and experts
Respond promptly and accurately to correspondence and telephone enquiries from clients and other parties, with and without supervision
Achieve set financial and chargeable targets
Support the team’s business development activities

What we're looking for

1-3 years PQE

Solicitor with previous experience

Genuine and demonstrable interest in the casualty area of work

Flexible approach to work

Ability to adapt to different tasks

Current experience of handling EL/PL casualty claims is essential

Proactive and forward-thinking mindset

Willingness to ask questions and engage with the whole team

Experience of handling own casualty caseload

Good drafting skills

Good time management and organisation skills
