The role

Mills Oakley is seeking lawyers with 1-8 years of PQE for their Public Sector practice in Brisbane, Australia. This role focuses on disability-related merits review and administrative appeals, acting for a key government client.

What you'll do

Manage a busy caseload of disability-related merits review matters
Prepare high-quality submissions, evidence summaries, and case strategies
Conduct tribunal appearances, conferences, and negotiations
Provide clear, well-reasoned advice to government decision-makers
Work collaboratively with internal teams, counsel, and government stakeholders
Support continuous improvement in administrative law processes and legal risk management

What we're looking for

Between 1-8 years' PQE

Experience or interest in disability merits review, administrative law, or tribunal advocacy

Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply complex legislative frameworks

Excellent written advocacy and confident oral advocacy

Sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to manage sensitive matters

A commitment to fairness, procedural integrity, and high-quality public administration
