Senior Associate - Court of Protection

The role

Penningtons Manches Cooper is seeking a Senior Associate for their Court of Protection team in Basingstoke. This Litigation role requires 6+ years of PQE and focuses on the complex financial and welfare management for individuals, particularly those with high-value compensation awards.

What you'll do

• Manage day-to-day general affairs of clients, acting as a primary point of contact, with a focus on high value complex cases
• Work on both Deputyships and Personal Injury Trusts, being aware of full client affairs and ensuring compliance with OPG Deputyship Standards
• Run own caseload of Property and Affairs Deputyships and Personal Injury Trust management with training and supervision
• Draft routine and non-routine applications to the Court of Protection with accompanying documentation including Witness Statements
• Support with the preparation of Expert Witness Statements for Deputyship costs
• Assist with the preparation of OPG Reports and manage the annual review process
• Assist senior members of the team with discrete tasks as required
• Take a role in the implementation of policies and processes relating to the team
• Supervise and mentor junior staff and delegate tasks as appropriate
• Liaise with Case Managers, clients, and their family and other professionals
• Liaise and consult with senior members of the team on team policies, learning and development and general management of client matters
• Set a positive example to junior members in meeting time recording targets and in contributing to the growth and development of the team
