The role

An Associate or Senior Associate position is available in the General Insurance team in Perth, focusing on advising on the defence of general liability claims, including casualty, property damage, and product liability matters. This role is for lawyers with a minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance matters, though candidates from a plaintiff background interested in transitioning are also considered.

What you'll do

Review documents and prepare evidence
Draft correspondence to the Court and third parties
Confer with witnesses and prepare witness statements
Prepare briefs for Counsel
Draft Court documents and attend Court
Draft client advices
Draft letters of instruction to experts
Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and other members of the team

What we're looking for

A minimum of 4 years of post-admission experience advising on defendant insurance matters

Experience in the day-to-day management of files

Experience in running matters through court proceedings

Proactive and able to work autonomously and as part of a team

Excellent technical, analytical and drafting skills with a keen attention to detail

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to organise and prioritise effectively

Candidates from a plaintiff background who are interested in transitioning to defendant work will also be considered

Ideally have experience in personal injury and general liability· nice to have
