The role
Latham & Watkins is seeking mid-level and senior associates with at least 3 years of experience to join their market-leading Emerging Companies, Growth Equity & Private Capital practice in the Bay Area. This role focuses on advising clients across the private capital ecosystem and innovation economy, with opportunities to work on sophisticated, high-profile transactions and develop direct client relationships.
What you'll do
- Lead transaction execution and manage deal processes
- Draft and negotiate principal transaction documents
- Serve as day-to-day contacts for founders, executives, boards, and investment professionals
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across practices and offices
- Mentor junior associates and help build the next generation of the practice
- Participate directly in business development and long-term client relationships
What we're looking for
Approximately 3–7 years of experience at a leading law firm
Significant experience with venture capital, growth equity, private company financings, emerging companies, private equity, or related corporate transactions
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and project management skills
Strong academic credentials and outstanding written and oral communication abilities
Strong entrepreneurial spirit and desire to make meaningful contributions to the growth of a practice
California bar admission or eligibility for admission
Experience has focused on venture financings, private equity, M&A, or capital markets· nice to have
