The role
Mills Oakley is seeking a Senior Associate/Special Counsel with 8+ years of PQE to join their Insurance practice group in Melbourne. This 12-month contract role involves advising major insurers on a range of claims and working alongside partner Nieva Connell.
What you'll do
- Advise insurers on coverage, liability, quantum, and strategy
- Prepare pleadings, evidence, advices, and settlement proposals
- Appear in the County, Supreme and Federal Courts
- Participate in and conduct interlocutory hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences
- Build strong relationships with insurer clients and claims managers
- Mentor junior lawyers and support their development
What we're looking for
8+ years PQE from a reputable defendant insurance practice

Excellent communication skills
Ability to nurture client relationships
A commercial mindset
Client service focus
Relevant in-house experience will be considered
