Insurance (Motor) - Lawyer/Associate at Mills Oakley

The role

Mills Oakley is seeking a Lawyer/Associate with 1-5 years of PQE to join their Brisbane-based Insurance team. This role focuses on defendant motor vehicle insurance claims, specifically involving property damage, acting for major Australian insurers.

What you'll do

Manage a large caseload of motor vehicle property damage claims
Advise insurers and corporate clients on liability, quantum, and recovery prospects
Conduct litigation in Court, including drafting pleadings and appearing at hearings
Negotiate settlements and manage alternative dispute resolution processes
Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development
Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high-quality legal services

What we're looking for

Between 1-5 years' PQE in defendant insurance litigation

Experience in motor vehicle property damage claims and recoveries

Strategic mindset to complex disputes

Ability to confidently navigate court procedures and alternative dispute resolution

Ability to consistently deliver results that align with client objectives

Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing conflicting priorities

Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment

Excellent communication skills with a strong client service focus
